Real People.
Real Restoration.
Twenty-eight years restoring New Jersey and Staten Island homes through burst pipes, sewage backups, flooded basements, and every major storm the region has seen. This is who we are and why homeowners keep calling.
28 Years on the Ground.
Every Storm. Every Neighborhood.
Zoom Dry was founded in 1997 and has operated out of Staten Island ever since. We are a family-operated restoration company rooted in a three-decade construction background. That matters because water damage restoration is not just a service bought on convenience — it is a trust decision made during the worst hours of a homeowner's year. We understand that, and we built this company to deliver on it.
What started as a local water damage response team on Staten Island has grown into a dual-market operation covering seven New Jersey counties and all of Staten Island, New York. Our team has handled thousands of losses across both markets. We have walked into basements that were flooded three minutes ago and basements that had been sitting for three days before anyone called. We have worked with homeowners whose deductible is their entire savings and with homeowners whose claim exceeded six figures. The response is the same every time: show up fast, do it right, document everything, handle the insurance company.
We are not a national franchise. We do not have a call center in another state. When you dial our number at two in the morning with water pouring through your ceiling, you reach our team directly — not a dispatcher routing you to whichever franchisee happens to be on-call. That matters when you need someone who actually knows the difference between a Staten Island South Shore hydrostatic event and a Union County, New Jersey combined sewer backup. Both require a completely different response.
We built our reputation one neighborhood at a time. Every review on our Thumbtack profile represents a real New Jersey or Staten Island homeowner whose property we restored. Every carrier relationship we maintain — from NJ Manufacturers to State Farm to Chubb — was earned by building claim files to their standards. Every IICRC certification on our team was earned through hundreds of hours of training and field experience. This is not marketing language. This is how restoration companies survive for 28 years.
The People Who
Show Up at Your Door
When you call Zoom Dry, you are not calling a corporate hotline. You are calling the team that will actually be in your home, restoring your property. Here is who you work with.
Allan runs field operations and builds every Xactimate claim file we submit. He is the person carriers know by name. His estimating experience across thousands of New Jersey and New York claims is the reason our documentation holds up to adjuster scrutiny and homeowners get paid what they are owed.
IICRC #9099033 WRT ASDJorge leads our field technician team. He has worked on hundreds of New Jersey and Staten Island water losses, including widespread response operations during Hurricane Ida in 2021. Our customer reviews frequently name Jorge for his professionalism and the quality of his team's work on the ground.
IICRC Certified WRTMike is one of our senior technicians on the Staten Island response team. He focuses on complex Category 2 and Category 3 losses where technical drying decisions and strict IICRC protocol compliance determine whether a job gets done right the first time.
IICRC CertifiedGracie runs the office. She coordinates adjuster communication, claim documentation handoffs, appointment scheduling, and customer follow-up. If your claim is moving smoothly through the insurance process, it is because Gracie is keeping the paperwork tight and the calls on schedule.
Licensed. Certified.
Built to Insurance Standards.
Every claim we file is built to the same documentation standards your carrier uses internally. Every technician on our team is certified to the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) S500 standard — the industry-wide protocol for water damage restoration.
Through Every Major Storm
the Region Has Seen
Twenty-eight years of operation in the Tri-State area means our team has responded to every catastrophic weather event New Jersey and Staten Island have faced. That experience is not advertised by newer competitors. It can only be earned.
Sandy delivered catastrophic coastal storm surge to Staten Island's South Shore. Tottenville, Oakwood Beach, New Dorp Beach, and Midland Beach sustained damage that redefined what homeowners understood about flood risk. Zoom Dry worked through months of recovery.
Sandy also revealed the gap between FEMA flood maps and actual risk — and exposed that standard homeowners policies specifically exclude rising water. Our team helped homeowners navigate flood insurance claim disputes, coordinated with NFIP adjusters, and documented losses for federal disaster relief programs.
Ida dropped nearly seven inches of rain on Staten Island and over eight inches in parts of Union County within three hours on September 1, 2021 — catastrophically exceeding every municipal storm drain system. The flooding was not coastal surge. It was inland drainage failure.
Thousands of basements that had never flooded before took on water that night. We mobilized across Staten Island, Union County, and Middlesex County for weeks of response operations. Many customers we served during Ida had never purchased flood insurance because their properties had no prior flood history.
Every winter brings freeze-thaw pipe burst events across both markets. Staten Island's pre-war North Shore housing stock with aging galvanized supply pipes. Union County's hillside neighborhoods in Summit, Mountainside, and Springfield. Middlesex County's older pre-war housing in Perth Amboy and New Brunswick.
Frozen and burst pipe events are the single most common source of homeowner insurance water damage claims in the region during winter. We respond to these heavily from January through March every year.
